Tricia Marton

Biography

TRICIA MARTON currently teaches private piano in her south side Sheboygan studio and group music classes based on the Dalcroze method through Sheboygan's Community Rec Department and private locations in Sheboygan. Two of her students have been featured in the prestigious Senior Honor Recital (held at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center). In addition to teaching, she serves on the faculty of Lakeland College's Summer Music Camp and was music director for Disney Kids Aladdin, Sleeping Beauty, Willy Wonka as well as Alice in Wonderland Jr. at Dare to Dream Theatre.

Mrs. Marton earned a Bachelor and Master of Music in Piano Performance from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where she studied with Dr. Linda Perry and concert artist Ruth Slenczynska. During her college years, she won many awards for her performances, including being featured as a soloist with two community orchestras in St. Louis. In addition to maintaining an active studio, Mrs. Marton continues to present solo recitals.

Mrs. Marton has established successful music studios in Illinois, Iowa and Wisconsin. In the business world, she spent 10 years at KFUO-FM, St. Louis’ classical radio station, managing a music education program. Through that program, thousands of students experienced classical music through in-school programs, live broadcast concerts that featured talented youth, two used instrument drives, and a music lesson scholarship program.

She believes in continuing her education through workshops such as UW-Madison’s Piano Teacher’s Workshop (2007) and Carnegie Mellon University’s (Pittsburgh, PA) three-week Dalcroze Eurhythmics Workshop (2008, 2009, 2011). While attending the 2010 Junior Theater Festival she was selected for the Broadway Slam, where she—along with a director and choreographer—prepared 25 kids to perform the scene of a musical in 60-minutes!

Marton was recognized as the 2011 Teacher of the Year by the local chapter of the Wisconsin Music Teachers Association and is a member of Rotary, International. She looks forward to using her business, performing and teaching skills to continue the great musical traditions of southeastern Wisconsin.
